The city
83 entries, framed and written out
Milwaukee is called the Brew City because of beer. German immigrants arrived in large numbers from the 1840s and brought lager brewing to the city on the western shore of Lake Michigan, and by the late 1800s Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz and Miller had made it one of the great brewing centres of the United States. Miller still brews in the city, craft breweries such as Lakefront have followed, and the baseball team is the Brewers.
The guide below is 83 places, among them the Pabst Mansion and Lakefront Brewery, with attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars and places found only in Milwaukee.
Everything below came out of the guide this property replaces, record for
record. What changed is the shape: the pictures are framed rather than laid under the type,
every entry keeps its own notes on its own card, and the whole book is in the page rather
than drawn by a script after it — so it prints, it searches, and it reads the same in
both editions.
